get to know... alicia

Alicia is one of the most genuine people I know, and I love her immensely. She has a purity and a commitment to God that is intimidating. She is silly, convicted, talented, honest, and giggly. Alicia is probably the most faithful person I know. When she does something, she puts her whole heart in it, and sticks with it. Her walk with the Lord is evident of this. She is very giving of herself, and her time, with a servant hood attitude that is very rare.Alicia teaches me to cherish the people around me, live a life worthy of the love I have been given, continue on the straight & narrow, and that laughing uncontrollably a few times a day is a healthy thing. Alicia has incredible artistic talent, a passion and love for children, and a heart that is in Panimaquin, Guatemala. She is one of the most beautiful people I've ever met, because her beauty truly shines from the inside, where she has cultivated a place of intimacy with Christ, knowing herself and keeping that pure. She laughs at all my jokes, and even believes the crazy stuff I say. I don't know what I'd do without her, and I am so grateful for the friendship we are forming day by day.

get to know... drew

Drew is probably the smartest person I know. He is going to school to be a doctor, and he excels in everything he does. He is unfathomably kind, gentle, compassionate, funny, eclectic, deep, and tall. Drew is one of those people in life that is a rock: he is solid, stable, and dependable. He teaches me to ride with the windows down, laugh the little stuff off, and count all things as loss compared to knowing God. He gives so much of himself to everyone so freely it is astonishing. He has taught me a lot about forgiveness, kindness, and growing up. Often referred to as "Droogle", Drew can answer any question or offer any fact at almost any given moment. This is due to his love of technology, though it never outweighs his love for others; a balance hard to find. I've known Drew since I was 14 and he was 16, and he has never failed to be there for me. I count myself as one of the luckiest people alive to have him in my life, and to have him be such a large part of it. You don't meet many people in life like Drew, if any. I don't appreciate him enough, but I have no words for what a marvelous person he is.

get to know... lisa

Lisa is one of my favorite people in this world. She is incredibly funny, deep, smart, beautiful, and passionate. She is also my roommate! Lisa teaches me about being silly, and that life doesn't need to be separated into the spiritual and the not. She has taught me a lot about love, acceptance, and being sisters. She has a strength that is intimidating, and a perseverance that is inspiring. Lisa and I have been friends since the ninth grade, and have had to overcome a lot because of that. It wasn't always pretty, and it always involved a lot of tears. But I believe we are coming to the other side of it.

There is a gentleness in Lisa that is so fragile and kind, yet carries tremendous weight and depth. She has been mistreated, abused, and cut down; but she has risen above it all, and she is a glorious, hilarious woman in Christ. I love her so much.

get to know...

So, I've decided to start this little doohickey called "Get to know..."Every couple days, I want to post a picture and a little few sentence blurb about someone in the community around here. It will be like a mini celebration of who they are. Plus, it will help you get acquainted with some of the most beautiful people around, and you'll know who I reference in my posts! I imagine this will begin tomorrow, so prepare yourself! :)
