starbucks gives hope

About 20 minutes ago, I was in the drive-thru line for Starbucks, picking up coffee for a very tired me, and another person at the house. The people in the car in front of me turned around and waved. I thought "Do I know them?", but then they drove away. Upon arriving at the window, I was informed that they had paid for my coffee, and the person in front of them had paid for theirs. I happily obliged to pay for the man behind me (and it was only a fourth of what I was going to pay for mine!).

It was a little thing, but it made my day. Things like this don't happen to me often, and I am reveling in it. Things like this give me hope for the world. That there are people out there who are kind, generous, and loving; and willing to step out of the mold from time to time and let the rest of us know they're there. I hope to be one of those people. Thank you, Starbucks people, for reminding me of what truly matters today.

  1. I just wanted to let you know how much you inspire me. I know we aren't as close of friends as we once were about four years ago, but I think about you a lot and I'm really happy you're happy. I don't know where this came from, really, maybe just from reading your blog. Everything you post is so optimistic, even if it's about a subject not so pleasant. But nonetheless, reading your posts is entertaining and inspiring and I'm glad. I have a tumblr blog and I wish I could somehow link to blogspot so I could follow you :(

  2. Aw, Dana, this was such a wonderful comment to receive! I had no clue you read my blog, but I'm glad you do! What's your tumblr? I'm on there, although I'm not very familiar or comfortable with it so mostly it's just links to here. It was good to hear from you though :)
